Two other members of the team survived the accident with minor injuries and have since been released from the hospital. One of them was reportedly driving when the collision occurred just before 2:45 p.m. The car rolled several times, ejecting two of the passengers, according to the Colorado State Patrol. Although the students were not on official school business, their deaths have left the University of Wyoming community in mourning.
President Ed Seidel and Athletics Director Tom Burman both shared heartfelt condolences, emphasizing the availability of counseling services. Governor Mark Gordon also expressed sympathy on behalf of the state. As the investigation continues, this tragedy stands as a painful reminder of life’s fragility and the deep bonds that connect student-athletes, their school, and the wider community.
