Years later, Adam traveled back to California to collect some documents, only to find his childhood home abandoned and in disrepair. Neighbors told him that a storm had damaged the house, and Diana, too proud to ask for help, had moved to a nursing home. Shocked and guilt-ridden, Adam visited his mother and apologized for neglecting her.
Diana, frail but forgiving, welcomed him back. Adam promised to care for her from then on. He repaired their home, brought her out of the nursing home, and started his business in California.
