Elon Musk says he and Donald Trump working to shut down USAid which provides $40,000,000,000 in humanitarian support annually

Posted on February 10, 2025 By author

Elon Musk announced that he and President Trump plan to shut down USAID, calling it “beyond repair.” Since returning to office, Trump has issued numerous executive orders, and Musk, working with his administration, criticized USAID as corrupt. Reports suggest Musk’s team gained access to classified documents after officials refused to share them.

USAID, the largest humanitarian aid provider, allocated over $40 million in 2023. While Trump supports Musk’s cost-cutting efforts, fully dismantling USAID would require congressional approval. Legal challenges and congressional resistance make its complete shutdown unlikely.
