Air travel can be stressful, but encountering entitled passengers can take the frustration to another level. During a recent flight, I had a run-in with a couple who believed their poor planning entitled them to my carefully chosen premium aisle seat. As I settled in, the woman marched up, demanded I switch seats so she could sit next to her husband, and offered a middle seat in exchange—without a trace of politeness.
When I hesitated, she snapped, “It’s just a seat,” while her husband added with a smug grin, “Do the right thing.” Against my better judgment, I gave in. But as I trudged to row 12, the flight attendant pulled me aside and said quietly, “You know they just scammed you, right?” That’s when I decided—if they were going to play dirty, I’d play smarter.
