Heartbreaking new details have emerged from the helicopter crash that killed an entire family visiting New York City from Barcelona. Just 18 minutes into what was meant to be a joyful sightseeing tour, the helicopter lost control and crashed into the Hudson River near Pier A Park in Hoboken.
The pilot had radioed the base to report the aircraft was low on fuel, but tragically, they never made it back. Witnesses described hearing a sonic boom and watching in horror as the helicopter “split in two” mid-air, with the tail and rotor blades detaching before it plunged into the water. Video footage showed the chopper upside down in the river, and police arrived shortly after the impact.
