Russia releases statement after Trump reads out Zelensky’s letter

Russia has commented on Ukraine’s President Zelensky’s willingness to negotiate after a tense meeting with U.S. President Trump. During the meeting, Trump and Vice President Vance expressed frustration with Zelensky’s refusal to discuss a ceasefire, calling it disrespectful to the U.S. Zelensky later read a letter in Congress, stating Ukraine is ready for peace talks and would sign a rare earth ,

minerals deal when convenient for the U.S.Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov welcomed Ukraine’s willingness to negotiate but noted that a 2022 Ukrainian decree prohibits direct talks with Putin. Meanwhile, Russia’s attacks on Ukraine continue, with a recent drone strike in Odesa killing a woman and injuring others. Ukraine shot down 115 drones in retaliation. The situation remains tense and evolving.
