Tsunami Warning As 7.6-magnitude Earthquake Strikes In Major Travel Destination

A 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck the Caribbean north of Honduras on Saturday, according to the German Research Center for Geosciences. The quake occurred at 6:23 p.m. EST, prompting tsunami advisories for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. However,

the advisory was lifted by the National Weather Service at 8:13 p.m. The earthquake’s magnitude was initially estimated at 6.89, but later revised to 7.6, with a depth of 6.21 miles. Despite the cancellation of the tsunami warning, residents of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands are still advised to stay away from coastal areas due to potential risks.
